A weekend in the woods with 9 friends, and 100 Games

Last weekend, we took a trip to Greer, AZ for a long weekend of fun in the snow (being from Phoenix, not many of us get to see it often) We planned this a long time ago, and were really excited. I packed up about 100 games to choose from and we took off. The drive up was fine, and our cabin was amazing. Lots of room, and plenty of table space.
Many of us had previously decided that going outside was only on a “must-do” basis and that gaming was the real reason for going. We played a ton of games. The biggest hit of the weekend was Tichu. I had played a few times prior and was looking forward to a couple more games. WEll, a couple turned into well over twenty. Every person there knew how to play by the end of the weekend, and it was a blast.
We played some WErewolf at night, Die Macher one morning (in which I, like an Ass, left the game early in a hissy-fit; something I’ve never done before in my life), and a lot of playing new games and old favorites.
We made a Pitchcar track that had a leap from one table to another; It was ridiculously awesome. WE also made an indoor disc golf course that included shots up and down from the loft overhang.
Basically that was what the weekend was about. If you wanted to play a game, you did. If you wanted to go X-country skiing, you did. If you wanted to read and sleep all weekend, you did. Sometimes the best vacations are the ones with nothing planned at all.
A great way to start the new year, and it gave a lot of fodder for future reviews. My favorite new games included Power Struggle, Tobago, Oasis, and Tichu
