Episode 008: Bananagrams

Welcome to the first of our November food-related game posts. We’re celebrating a tradition of gorging ourselves and gluttony that Americans enjoy on Thanksgiving by reviewing games that have food as a theme
Our first game is Bananagrams. It’s a word game that takes only a few minutes to learn, has minimal set-up time and can be played quickly by a wide range of ages and of people. We love this game, and were surprised to have discovered it through the gift shop at the Phoenix Art Museum.
The basics are that you are trying to make a personal crossword puzzle style board out of tiles drawn from the middle of the table (The Bunch) All players play simultaneously, and there are no points for words, you are simply trying to use all of your tiles. Once you have used all your tiles you may make everyone (including yourself) “Peel” another letter from the tiles in the middle. you may rearrange your tiles as often and as drastically as you like, and once there are less tiles in the center of the table as there are people playing, you win when you use up your tiles.
